Artist statement
My creative practice is made up of two complimentary halves. On one hand I work with ideas and set up or control my subject in some respect, the images are planned. Thresholds between opposites has emerged as a repeated theme in this work, whether it is the self and the universal; foreground and background; real and imagined; past and present. This side of my practice is also concerned with exploring the medium of photography itself, through experimenting with the rules, laws and expectations of the photograph. The other side of my practice is a more observational experience. Using my camera to record what I find in the world.
